The Best Quiet, Sandy, No Waves Beach Hotels in Cancun, Mexico

White sand beach in Cancun

Most beaches of Cancun are beautiful. White sand, palms and blue water – all like in the most attractive travel commercials. That’s why Cancun attracts tourists from all over the world. The main reason why they come there – is a lazy beach vacation with kids.

But…

Unfortunately, beaches of Cancun have waves. Even if you stay in a hotel with the best beach, you can not avoid waves. That’s not fun for those who likes lazy slow swimming/bathing and for those with small kids. There are a few places only that can be proud of calm water.

So what are the best places?

First of all, let me share the best locations and then I will mention hotels and prices to compare.

  1. Top 7
  2. Isla Mujeres
  3. Beaches behind islands like Cozumel

What is Top 7?

If you look on the map, Cancun beaches look like number 7. Top 7 – is the upper part of it.

According to the travelers reviews, it’s the best place with no waves. If you check Satellite version of google map, you can see sand and water. This will give you a better idea on how the beach looks. www.travelrows.com

Hotels on Top 7

Number 1 hotel that I would advice in Top 7 or Zona Hotelera is Riu Cancun. It will fit in a budget, it’s close to the airport of Cancun and its all inclusive.

Other hotels on that side that have great reviews:

  • Beachscape Kin Ha Villas & Suites Cancún
  • Hyatt Ziva
  • Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun
  • Intercontinental Presidente

Other accommodations on that side:

  • Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas
  • Fiesta Americana Cancún Villas
  • Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa
  • Villa Dzul Ha – Cancún

Isla Mujeres

Another paradise in the Gulf of Mexico, Cancun. Famous for its beautiful white sand beaches. It will take more time to get there by a ferry boat but even if your hotel is on main land, I advise to visit Isla Mujeres as an attraction and spend a day over there. According to the customers reviews, the best beaches on the island are in the Northern part of it.

The best hotels on Isla Mujeres:

  • Hotel Privilege Aluxes Isla Mujeres
  • Zoëtry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun
  • Mia Reef Isla Mujeres

Other hotels that you may like:

  • Na Balam Beach Hotel & Spa Isla Mujeres
  • Ixchel Beach Hotel

Note: In this article I mention only hotels that are right on the beach. On Isla Mujeres there are really nice hotels, apartments and villas right across the street from the beach but it is often a No for many tourists, especially with children.

Other locations

Like I mentioned above, there are some quiet locations like behind the islands and lagoons that protect beaches from big waves. Locations can be quite far from the airport but still worth going there. One of the best hotels:

  • Club Med Cancún Yucatan
  • The Westin Resort & Spa, Cancun
  • Hyatt Zilara Cancun
  • The Ritz-Carlton
  • Le Blanc Spa Resort
  • Marriott Cancun Resort
  • JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa
  • Paradisus Cancun
  • Melody Maker Cancun
  • Omni Cancun Hotel & Villas
