New Details for Mardi Gras Ship Announced

Carnival Cruise Line on Friday revealed the first details of the anticipated Mardi Gras ship set to make a debut in the year 2020. Upon its launch next year, Mardi Gras will be the first ship in North America to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). It will boast of 20 decks beautifully highlighted by six themes.

The six theme zones were specially designed to engage passengers in a community-driven and social ambiance. Every portion of the ship will have their own theme including: Grand Central, French Quarter, Summer Landing, Lido, The Ultimate Playground and La Piazza.

Carnival president Christine Duffy, in a statement said “When our guests choose fun and book a vacation on Mardi Gras, they are going to have many firsts and exciting experiences, all enhanced by the fun atmosphere our great carnival crew deliver on every cruise,” she then added “we’ve specifically designed Mardi Gras to invite everyone to create their own personalized fun vacation experience with options to suit every age, mood or taste.”

Some of the eye catching highlights of the six themed areas of the Mardi Gras include: the piano bar 88, a traditional new Orleans jazz club, the punchliner comedy club, a 24/7 pizzeria del capitano, a waterworks aqua park, the much anticipated BOLT: ultimate sea coaster and guy’s pig and anchor smokehouse brewhouse.

Being the first ever roller coaster at sea, roller coaster enthusiasts will have a thrill along its 800 foot long track and a achieving a mind blowing speed of nearly 40 miles per hour. Guests on the ship will be spoilt for choice as they will have more than 20 different stateroom categories and multiple levels of suites to select from. Reservations for Mardi Gras itineraries will be open for sale as from January 30.
